IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program Statistics and Reporting

The IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program provides an annual testing report which includes statistics and information pertaining to its testing program, as well as the I AM True education and outreach efforts.

In addition to testing under the jurisdiction of the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program, many IRONMAN athletes are tested by their National Anti-Doping Agency or Regional Anti-Doping Agency.  IRONMAN’s comprehensive testing program coordinates planning, intelligence and results with key Anti-Doping Agencies Worldwide. This collaboration is critical to successful and strategic deterrence and detection as well as to minimizing the duplication of efforts.

Prior to 2014, and beginning again in 2018, the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program reported doping control statistics for testing conducted under its jurisdiction separately from WADA’s published Testing Figures.

The World Anti-Doping Agency annually publishes statistical reports of all Code Signatories as reported by the WADA accredited laboratories in the Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS). Testing Figures for all doping control samples analyzed and reported under the jurisdiction of the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program are reported in WADA's comprehensive reporting of testing figures and analytical results under the listing of the World Triathlon Corporation. This includes all testing conducted worldwide on both Professional and Age Group athletes.

The WADA Anti-Doping Testing Figures reports should be consulted for detailed testing statistics pertaining to the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program and worldwide anti-doping efforts in IRONMAN and the sport of triathlon.

*NOTE – Within ADAMS, some National Anti-Doping Organizations (ADO’s) report in-and-out of competition testing conducted on ‘IRONMAN athletes’ under the specific discipline of IRONMAN. In many cases, however, testing on ‘IRONMAN athletes’ is included in their testing figures reported among all triathlon tests. Thus, not all testing of ‘IRONMAN athletes’ conducted by other ADOs is distinguished in the Testing Figures reports.

The Testing Figures of the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program are reported under the Testing Authority of the World Triathlon Corporation.

Please note: Prior to 2014, the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program reported doping control statistics for testing conducted under its jurisdiction, separately from WADA’s published statistical reports. Additional testing of IRONMAN athletes occurred throughout the world under the jurisdiction of National Anti-Doping Agencies. These figures are not included within these historical statistics.
