COVID Options North America

We hope you and those you care about are well and healthy in these continued challenging times. Like you, we are all very much looking forward to going back to in-person racing and seeing you at a starting line in North America. 

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be extremely dynamic with rules and regulations changing constantly. Our teams have been adapting based off of this and working to evolve operational plans in a manner consistent with local community objectives and within the guidelines and recommendations set by public health entities as it relates to COVID-19. 

Each event is evaluated and assessed on their own unique set of circumstances but postponements or cancellations are of course extremely disappointing. To help you with your planning, this page outlines the processes and options currently available to you for affected races indicated in the table below.

The COVID-19 policy detailed below applies only to the races listed in the table below. Please note however, that updates can occur at any time.

I do not want to participate in the 2021 race

My 2021 race is still scheduled to take place on its original date but I do not want to participate in it. 

Process

If your 2021 race is still scheduled to take place on its original date, but you do not wish to participate in it, please reach out to the event specific email address for your current options.

If you have further questions, have concerns about COVID-19 or travel restrictions, please reach out to the local event team for further assistance. 


My race has been postponed to a later date in 2021

Your registration will be automatically transferred to the new event date in 2021. Should you be unable to race on that date you also have the options of requesting a deferral to the same race in the following year or a transfer to one of the options listed in the email. 

Process

Please complete your selection below before your event’s deadline. All terms and conditions apply. Dates are subject to any related COVID-19 restrictions.  

HOW TO SELECT YOUR OPTION:  

Option 1: I want to transfer my entry to the new 2021 event date  
No action required. Your registration will be automatically transferred to the new event date in 2021.  
  
Please note that the original deadlines for a partial refund or a transfer remain unchanged. They are not postponed along with the new race date.  

Option 2: I want to defer my entry to the 2022 event date  

As a registered athlete for a postponed 2021 event, you have received an email that explains the different options you can choose from regarding your registration. 
 
If you are looking to defer your entry to the same event in 2022, which would reserve your place in the 2022 event,  please follow these steps:  

  • Click the link provided in the email   
  • Select “DEFERRAL”  
  • Fill out and complete the deferral form   
  • Hit the “Submit” button  

Upon submitting your deferral request, you will receive an email confirming your request has successfully been received. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please contact the local event team for support.  

You will receive a deferral link to finalize your registration upon our official 2022 registration opening.  
  
Relay teams: Only the team captain must complete this process in order to defer their team. Upon completion, the team captain will receive a link to share with their team members so they can join the team again.  

Please note that athletes who choose to defer their entry forfeit any right of a partial refund or transfer.  

FAQs

1. How do I know if I am registered for the new 2021 edition?   
To view your registration:  

  • Log into your Active.com account and select MyEvents  

  • In the race area, click on "Registration & QR code"   

  • You will then see the new date of the event, as well as your new QR code.   

2. How do I know if my 2022 registration is complete?   
You will receive a deferral link to finalize your registration upon our official 2022 registration opening.  Once completed, you will receive a confirmation email from Active.  

 
To view your registration, once completed:  

  • Log into your Active.com account and select MyEvents  

  • In the race area, click on "Registration & QR code"   

  • Click on the 2022 race  

  • Check your 2022 registration details.   

3. I have not yet received my deferral link for the 2022 event.   
Please contact the local event team.  
  

4. Can I change my mind?   
Whether you have decided to transfer to the new postponed race date in 2021, defer to the same race in 2022 or have requested a transfer to one of the other event options, once you have submitted your preference or after the race’s final deadline for doing so, you will not be able to select another option.   

 
Therefore, if you have decided to defer to the 2022 edition, you will not be able to transfer back to the postponed date in 2021 or any other 2021 options originally given. 

 
5. Can I request a partial refund of my entry if I withdraw from the race myself?  
Only athletes who have registered for the 2021 edition through General Registration upon our 2021 event opening are eligible for partial refunds. Please click here to review our policy, our process, and our deadlines
 
Please note that the deadlines for a partial refund remain unchanged and do not defer along with any race postponement or race deferral.  

 
Athletes who have deferred from 2019 and/or 2020 are not eligible for any partial refund of their registration fee if they withdraw from the race in 2021. Please review the above options for your entry.  

 
6. Can I transfer or defer to another event in 2021 or 2022?   
You can only transfer to the one of the options listed in your event email. Please review the above options for your entry.  
  

7. Can I transfer my registration to another athlete?   
As per our Rules and Regulations, you cannot sell or give your race entry away to another athlete. Only the registered athlete will be able to compete on race day.  
  

8. Relay - Could I change my team members for the new edition?  
Yes, you can change the names of you team members. For further assistance, please contact the local event team.   
  

9. Relay – Could I change my relay registration to an individual entry?   
For further assistance, please contact the local event team.  


My race has been cancelled and will be taking place in 2022

As a registered athlete for a cancelled 2021 event, we have automatically reserved a slot for you to be able to race on the new event date in 2022.

Process

Please complete your selection below before your event’s deadline. All terms and conditions apply. Dates are subject to any related COVID-19 restrictions.  

HOW TO SELECT YOUR OPTION: 

Option 1: I want to defer my entry to the 2022 Event Date  
No immediate action required. You will receive a deferral link to finalize your registration upon our official 2022 registration opening.  

Please note that athletes who choose to defer their entry forfeit any right of a partial refund or transfer.  

Option 2: I want to Transfer my entry to a different 2021 Event  

As a registered athlete for a cancelled 2021 event, you have received an email that explains the different options you can choose from regarding your registration. 
 
If you are looking to transfer your entry to one of the event options in 2021, which would please follow these steps:  

  • Click the link provided in the email sent by Active 

  • Select the 2021 Event you would like to transfer into 

  • Fill out and complete the Active form   

  • Hit the “Submit” button  

Upon submitting your selection, you will receive an email confirming your request has successfully been received. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please contact the local event team for support.
