PUERTO PRINCESA TO HOST
THE IRONMAN 70.3 ASIA TRICLUB & RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP THIS NOVEMBER

IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Princesa will play host to the Asia TriClub & Relay Championship on November 12, 2023.  Located at the heart of Palawan, Puerto Princesa City is a tropical paradise with a bustling urban center, a perfect destination for a team race-cation.  This November, it becomes the arena where TriClub members will be racing for the glory of winning the IRONMAN® Asia TriClub Championship for their team. Known globally for bringing both friendly competition and big energy to each destination on the series, the TriClub Championships are a unique experience designed specifically for clubs.

Since its inception, the IRONMAN TriClubs mission is to support and celebrate the community of triclubs around the world," said Casey Taker Global Director of Athlete Development of IRONMAN. “With the motto NEVER RACE ALONE, the IRONMAN TriClub aims to ensure every athlete has the opportunity to experience training and racing with likeminded and fun athletes. To date there are more than 12,000 IRONMAN TriClubs and more than 170,000 TriClub members around the world! Through friendly competition and exclusive benefits, the IRONMAN TriClub Program empowers and supports this strong community.”  The program supports clubs in North America, EMEA, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America.

To be an affiliated IRONMAN TriClub, the team’s leader registers the club and its members for free at IRONMAN.com. The points of a TriClub are the sum of its member’s individual race finish time behind the first finisher in his/her age group. As race time increases, points decrease until the point floor which is 700 in this case.  The faster an athlete is, the more points he/she gets.  The more members a TriClub has, the more points a team gets.

The opportunity to win the Asia TriClub Championship in Puerto Princesa is up for grabs”, said Princess Galura, General Manager of the IRONMAN Group Sunrise Events, Inc. “The fastest individual would need the support of the summative points of his TriClub teammates.  Having said that, the largest TriClub might be bested by a smaller club but has the faster athletes.”

This year, the Asia TriClub Champion will not only gain the prestige as the top of the region’s TriClubs, the host city has took it up a notch and will grant a Php500,000 Cash Prize for the champion.
